Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 8, 2026
Your privacy matters here — not as a legal formality, but as a genuine commitment. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what information is collected when you visit Travel Tips for Students, why it’s collected, and what control you have over it.
If you have questions at any point, you can always reach me directly. My contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Who Runs This Website
Travel Tips for Students is independently run by Awamar Chheena — a student blogger who built this site to help college students travel smarter and spend less. There’s no faceless corporation behind this. It’s just me, writing from real experience.
What Information Is Collected
Information You Provide Directly
When you use the contact form or sign up for email updates, you voluntarily share your name and email address. That information is used only to respond to you or send content you asked for — nothing else. It is never sold, rented, or shared with any third party for marketing purposes.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site automatically collects some technical data when you visit. This includes your browser type, device type, pages you viewed, time spent on the site, referring URLs, and your general location (country or city level only). This data is collected in aggregate — it’s never used to identify you personally.
Cookies
This website uses cookies — small text files saved to your device — to make your experience smoother and to understand how visitors use the site. Cookies are used to:
- Remember your preferences
- Analyze site traffic and behavior
- Serve relevant advertisements
- Keep certain site features working properly
A cookie consent banner appears on your first visit, giving you full control over non-essential cookies. You can also manage or block cookies through your browser settings at any time — though disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of this site function.
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to track how visitors interact with content — things like which pages get the most reads, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. All data collected by Google Analytics is anonymized and used only to improve the quality of content here.
Google processes this data in line with their own Privacy Policy. If you’d prefer to opt out entirely, you can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense & Advertising
This website displays ads through Google AdSense to help cover running costs. AdSense uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your browsing history across the web.
You can opt out of personalized advertising anytime by visiting Google’s Ad Settings or www.aboutads.info. This site does not directly control the cookies placed by Google or other ad networks. For full details, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
Affiliate Links
Some posts on this site contain affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the site free to use.
Affiliate relationships never influence what gets recommended. Every suggestion on this site is based on what I genuinely believe is useful for student travelers. Current affiliate partnerships may include services like Amazon Associates, StudentUniverse, Skyscanner, and other travel-related platforms. All affiliate activity is covered under the site’s Disclaimer.
Email Subscriptions
If you subscribe to updates from Travel Tips for Students, your email is stored securely and used only to send you what you signed up for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link — one click and you’re off the list, no questions asked. Your email is never sold or passed on to third parties.
Embedded Content
Some pages include embedded content from external platforms such as YouTube or Instagram. Embedded content works exactly as if you visited those platforms directly — they may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction with their content under their own privacy policies.
Your Rights Under GDPR
If you’re in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of the data held about you
- Correction — Ask for inaccurate data to be fixed
- Deletion — Request your data be removed
- Withdraw Consent — Pull back any consent you’ve previously given
- Lodge a Complaint — File a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email me at awamarchheena@gmail.com and I’ll respond within 30 days.
Data Security
Reasonable technical measures are in place to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. That said, no internet transmission is completely secure — I can’t guarantee absolute security, but I take every practical step to protect what you share.
Children’s Privacy
This website is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact me right away and it will be removed immediately.
Links to External Sites
Posts on this site may link to external websites. I’m not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Always check the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in law or site practices. The “Last Updated” date at the top always shows the most recent version. Continuing to use the site after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
